Disability Together

This account is a future nonprofit that aims to provide representation and awareness for all disabilities in an effort to educate. The account is run entirely by disabled people. The content produced focused on providing representation for all disabled people and providing resources to combat ableism and support the disability community.This account is cofounded by two young women: Isabel and Rachel (featured in the photo).

The 20 Something Spoonie

This account is run by Lauren, a young woman who is 22-years old. She became chronically ill when she was 19 years old, just three months after starting university. Her current diagnoses includes CFS, fibromyalgia, inappropriate sinus tachycardia, PCOS, and adult-onset growth hormone deficiency. Her account provides infographics of sorts that are easy to repost and explain what it is like living with chronic illnesses. Her content also provides resources for how to support the chronically ill community.

Lauren “Lolo” Spencer

Project Name

Lauren Spencer was diagnosed with ALS at age 14. Today, now in her 30s, Spencer is a disability influencer that wears a lot of hats, such as actress, model, and public speaker. She uses her account to educate others on her disability and to change the way people see those with disabilities by conveying her love for her life.  She describes her disability “as an honor, not a burden.” Her Instagram features posts of vibrant fashion shoots, disability advocacy work, and acting content.

Project Name

Emily was born with Larsen syndrome and began disability advocacy work at the young age of 10 years old with he appearances on Sesame Street. Currently, she is a disability rights activist and the author of the book Demystifying Disability: What to Know, What to Say, and How to be an Ally. On her account, she posts easily sharable infographics to spread awareness and support the disability community. She also details her lived experience as a disabled individual.
